Schedule of Academic Dates and Deadlines
The following dates are subject to change as the university makes decisions regarding the 2026–2027 academic year. Changes will be posted online on the graduate school’s website.
Fall Term 2026
| Aug. 17 | W | Registration opens for incoming students, 12 p.m. |
| Aug. 24 | M | New student orientation week begins (mandatory) |
| Aug. 26 | W | Add/drop period opens, 8 a.m. |
| Sept. 1 | M | Due date to notify department of intention to submit dissertation for award of the Ph.D. in December Final day to file petition for M.A., M.S., and M.Phil. degrees |
| Sept. 2 | W | Fall-term classes begin |
| Sept. 4 | F | Monday classes meet on Friday |
| Sept. 7 | M | Labor Day. Classes do not meet |
| Sept. 11 | F | Add/drop period ends, 5 p.m. Final day for registration. A fee of $50 is assessed if students register after this date Fall-term record will be removed for students who submit the dissertation on or before this date |
| Sept. 16 | W | Final day to apply for a fall-term personal leave of absence The entire fall-term tuition charge or continuous registration fee (CRF) will be cancelled for students who withdraw from the graduate school or who are granted a leave of absence effective on or before this date |
| Sept. 26 | Sa | One-half of the fall-term full tuition charge will be canceled for students who withdraw from the graduate school on or before this date, or who are granted a medical leave of absence effective on or before this date. The CRF is not prorated |
| Oct. 1 | Th | Due date for dissertations to be uploaded to DPRS in order to be considered by the Degree Committee for award of the Ph.D. in December. Dissertation submission must be completed by 5 p.m. EST Final date for the faculty to submit grades to replace grades of Temporary Incomplete (TI) awarded during the previous academic year |
